Chandler for Kemp

AJC's Political Insider is reporting that Interim Secretary of State Brian Kemp has put together this election year's first statewide grassroots organization.
Former Baldwin County High School Principal Lyn Chandler is Baldwin County's organization representative.
Kemp will be running to retain the Secretary of State seat through the next cycle.

The Digital Bridges wants you!

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation-funded program to help Milledgeville facilitate the highest and best use of it's Municipal Wireless Broadband Network, Milledgeville Community Connections: Digital Bridges...Bringing People Together, wants your input into how it can help the community.
In addition to the three town hall meetings they've scheduled for this Thursday, they also are hoping Milledgeville-Baldwin County community members will take the time to answer an online survey.
Here's their spiel:

Your feedback is vital to guiding the efforts of Digital Bridges, a new project supported by Georgia College and State University and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Digital Bridges is challenged to create a sustained community-led model for creative applications of technology as a means to improve Milledgeville-Baldwin County.

Update: I just took the survey and it took under five minutes and there was only one question that actually involved silent contemplation.

Milledgeville Ex-Pat ex-Pat no more

It was announced this morning that Heather Holder accepted the executive director position for Georgia College & State University's John S. and James L. Knight Foundation funded Milledgeville Community Connections: Digital Bridges...Bringing People Together initiative.
The program is to be up and running June 23.

I wonder why we didn't think of this, I can't believe they didn't see this sooner

This observation was shared with Union Recorder readers through the community forum today:

"Has anyone been to Lowe's Garden Center lately? Wrapped around the tomato plants is a recyclable sleeve by the company Bonnie Plants (trade mark). Their signature states "
Our Roots Run Deep since 1918". The colors of the Bonnie Plants are yellow and green. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
I wonder if this will be another possible law suit for the town of Milledgeville."

I think we can all remember this and the local uproar it caused.
Now I ask: Did anyone responsible for this festival ever google the phrase 'Deep Roots Festival'?

Milledgeville Ex-Pat washes ashore

Heather Holder was back in the State's Antebellum Capital again last week, and I think we'll be seeing a lot more of her soon.
Holder was one of two candidates making the final round of interviews for the director position on Georgia College & State University's John S. and James L. Knight Foundation funded Digital Bridges initiative.
You might remember that Holder is available following her brief run as President of New Town Macon, a downtown development kind of thing similar to MainStreet Milledgeville.
With Holder's experience in Milledgeville and her penchant for making things happen, she'll be hard to beat for the top wireless position. Whomever the chosen one is, they're expected to begin work next week.
